Tissot Heritage Visodate Automatic T019.430.16.031.01 Men’s Watch
All vintage and reminiscent of the nostalgia of 1950’s era, the Tissot Heritage Visodate is an affordable, entry level Swiss-made watch. The first Tissot Visodate was launched in 1953 to celebrate the brand’s centenary.
The Tissot Visodate back then had a novel feature – it had a date window that changed to the next date instantly at midnight. A few other brands had a similar feature but the date would change gradually to the next by midnight. The design of the Visodate was quite innovative for that period, which made it a stylish dress watch and also served as a good, everyday watch.
The Tissot Heritage Visodate T019.430.16.031.01 was launched in 2010 picking up some of the features from the original model. The heritage look was hugely successful and the Tissot Heritage Visodate could retain its exclusivity among other similar watches.

The point of all this research was to find a gift for my father. Father’s Day was round the corner and this year I wanted to make it special for him as he would also be celebrating his 60th birthday in a few months’ time. I thought this classic Tissot timepiece would make an excellent gift for him.
Although I wouldn’t say my dad is a watch aficionado, he certainly loves his watch collection. A couple of classic dress watches are his prized possessions though a Tissot is not among them. The Tissot Heritage Visodate would fill up that gap.
Downunderwatches.com, an Australian online watch store offered a range of Tissot timepieces that were elegant and affordable. The Heritage Visodate 40mm case diameter with 11.6mm case thickness seemed just the right fit. The watch would just easily slip under the cuff. Two dial colour options were available with Downunderwatches, silver or blue. The blue dial model of the Visodate came with a stainless-steel bracelet but I felt the silver dial leather band option would suit dad better.
This high-quality Swiss watch comes in a stainless-steel case with the Caliber 2836-2 Automatic mechanical movement and sapphire crystal. The Visodate Heritage features a day and date display unlike the original model which displayed only the date.
A see-through case back is an interesting feature of the Tissot Visodate displaying the inner workings of the watch. Turn the watch and you can see the movement ticking away though the display window. It’s an interesting aspect that adds to the vintage charm of the watch.
