Nixon Brand of Watches

Nixon Brand of Watches

My son was due to join university soon and I wanted to give him a good quality watch that could also serve as a trendy accessory for the hectic lifestyle of a University student. A lot of brands out there create fashion watches; I came across Michael Kors, Fossil, Diesel and many more. I was looking for an all-American watch brand and came across Nixon. Nixon is a popular American brand that makes wrist watches to fit personal styles and tastes of the youth. The brand’s aim was to create comfortable watches that kept up with the current fashion trends and typically meant for the youngsters.

Nixon brand started off with just 7 models in 1998 when the brand was founded. Today, the success story of the Nixon brand has created a brand value of $500 million.  With more than 90 different models on sale Nixon caters to every budget and taste and is well known the world over as an affordable fashion watch brand.

Effortless chic is what the Nixon brand is all about, a lifestyle preferred by the youth. Free-flowing designs from Nixon bring a unique style to everyday wear, leading me to conclude that a Nixon timepiece would be the best choice for my son.

From the online collection at Downunderwatches.com, the Nixon Sentry A405-1258-00 Chronograph Quartz Men’s Watch looked promising. Apparently, the Nixon Sentry Chronograph series of timepieces come in a variety of colours like brass, gold, gunmetal black and several other shades. The bright blue dialled Nixon Sentry Chronograph looked like a vibrant choice of colour for a young guy and that’s what I got from the website of Downunderwatches.com.

The round, stainless steel case enhances the bright blue dial with stainless-steel markers. The watch features three sub dials including a secondary 24-hour sub dial. The silvery stainless-steel sub dials stand out to give a unique definition to this timepiece. Skeleton hour and minute hands are complemented by a needle point seconds hand in red.

A date window is placed at the 4 o’clock marker and the watch is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. A black leather strap and buckle clasp with a couple of colourful stitches near the lugs gives the watch a sturdy look. The Nixon Sentry Chronograph boasts of a Japanese quartz movement well known for accuracy. A solid stainless-steel case back with screw down crown completes the picture.

I chose the Nixon Sentry Chronograph which is a mid-range watch. Nixon also offers some good timepieces in its Time Teller Collection which is at the lower end of the price range. My focus was on getting a watch that looked good, kept accurate time and was easy to read. The Nixon Sentry Chronograph fulfilled all these criteria, but the best part was that my son loved the timepiece.
